Jelena Pejković is a visual artist, architect and researcher based in Belgrade, Serbia. Her artwork, research and architecture projects frequently interrelate; this approach allows for fresh perspectives and unique visual approaches.

In her art, figurative elements are juxtaposed with abstract mark-making as a means of sparking curiosity about the immediate, tangible environment. She often features the mundane, overlooked, peripheral, yet complex and visually striking subjects such as rural architecture, derelict buildings or neglected urban areas. Her process of combining, stacking and interlocking diverse materials – graphite, ink, gouache, collage – is deeply transformative: through sustained focus and attention, layers of complexity emerge even out of the most ordinary structures.

Jelena’s work has been exhibited in China, Iran, Italy, Finland, Montenegro, Norway, Romania, Serbia, Spain, Sweden, Thailand and, most recently, in a solo show in Austria. She holds an M. Arch. from Massachusetts Institute of Technology and an A.B. with special concentration in Architecture and Urban Design from Harvard University.
